Bradbury, a suburb of Sydney in New South Wales, Australia, has a history that spans back to the early colonial days of the region. Originally known as Sherwood Hills, the suburb underwent large-scale residential development beginning in the 1960s and was named after a local 19th-century innkeeper, William Bradbury.

William Bradbury was a notable figure in the Campbelltown area during the 1820s and 1830s. He owned a farm south of Campbelltown and was recognized for his colorful personality, particularly his drinking habits. Bradbury's property, known as Bradbury Park, was mentioned by Governor Lachlan Macquarie during his visit in 1822. Despite his reputation, Bradbury was a respected member of the community and contributed significantly to the early development of the area.

The modern suburb of Bradbury was established in 1969, and its streets are characterized by the presence of native trees, with most street names reflecting different types of trees such as Bottlebrush Avenue and Jacaranda Avenue. The area surrounding Manooka Reserve, originally called Manooka Estate, was incorporated into Bradbury in the 1970s.

Bradbury also has a connection to the famous Australian legend of Fisher's Ghost. Frederick Fisher's ghost is said to have appeared on a bridge post in the suburb, leading to the discovery of his body. This has contributed to the local folklore and identity of the area.

The suburb today is known for its greenery and community-focused amenities, including Bradbury Pools, a swimming complex with an Olympic-sized pool, and several ovals supporting local sports teams.
